Dr. Alvin Jenkins
Dr. Jenkins is a graduate of the University of North Carolina and has been practicing dentistry for over thirty years in Ashe County.  He is a native of West Jefferson and could not imagine living anywhere else.  Dr. Jenkins has been married to Carolyn (Office Manager) for over thirty great years and is committed to the family business of dentistry.

Dr. Alvin P. Jenkins is a certified provider of Lumineers®, and Invisalign® and certified by the World Clinical Laser Institute in Laser Dentistry.  Dr. Jenkins incorporates the latest procedures, techniques and state-of-art technologies available in dentistry today.  Dr. Jenkins is certified in Sedation Dentistry by the Dental Organization of Conscious Sedation and the North Carolina State Board of Dentistry.  Dr. Jenkins firmly believes in keeping up with the latest research and developments in the dental profession.  Dr. Jenkins truly enjoys attending any type of dental training that he knows will improve the dental care given to all patients.  

Dr. Jenkins built two beautiful McKenzie River wooden boats by hand and enjoys fishing and maneuvering the river everyday that ends in "y" when he is not seeing patients. He also enjoys playing guitar, billiards, reading, and spending time with family.  

Dr. Emily J. Stopper
Dr. Emily Jenkins Stopper is a West Jefferson, North Carolina native and daughter of Dr. Alvin P. Jenkins.  She   graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from Wake Forest University in 2002 and earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2007.

Dr. Stopper is dedicated to maintaining a high level of knowledge and skill in the ever-changing field of dentistry. She does so throughout the year by attending advanced education courses presented by leading dentists all over the U.S. She is actively involved in local, state and regional societies.  Dr. Stopper is a member of the American Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry, North Carolina Academy of General Dentistry, North Carolina Dental Society and the Dental Organization for Conscious Sedation.  Dr. Stopper is also a certified provider of Lumineers® and Invisalign® and certified by the World of Clinical Laser Institute in Laser Dentistry.  Dr. Stopper is also certified in Sedation Dentistry by the Dental Organization of Conscious Sedation and the North Carolina State Board of Dentistry.

In her free time, Dr. Stopper enjoys spending time with her husband, four dogs, chinchilla, rabbit and chickens.  She is also an avid knitter and reader.

Theresa - Dental Hygienist
Theresa enjoys meeting new people and helping them attain good dental health.  She is detail-oriented and compassionate.  Theresa takes great pride in her work making people's smiles healthier and brighter!

Theresa along with her family, raises Halfinger horses and Cotswold sheep.  She also shows horses in combined driving events.  Theresa enjoys knitting, spinning, weaving and loves to read.  Theresa and her husband Basil have been married for over 15 years and have two daughters, Bennett and Mabry.

Kelsey - Dental Hygienist
Kelsey graduate from Forsyth Technical Community College with an Associates Degree in Dental Hygiene.  Kelsey has been with Mountain Town Dental since 2009.  She is committed to ensuring that each patient is comfortable and offers the highest level of care.  She enjoys using the newest procedures and technology to help patients achieve happy, healthy smiles.

Kelsey lives in Wilkes County and enjoys hiking, playing guitar, and playing with her dog Mugzy.  She is getting married later this year to her fiance.  

Betty - Dental Assistant
Betty has been with Mountain Town Dental for more than 34 years.  Betty loves working with patients and takes great care in making patients fell comfortable during their visits.  Her outgoing personality helps ease patients and ensures that the best care is given in a friendly, enjoyable atmosphere.

In her free time, Betty enjoys reading, spending time with family, watching UNC basketball and her grandchildren play sports.  Betty and her husband, Lanny, have two children, Charity and Lance, and three grandsons, Dakin, Kai, and Imri.  She also has a fifteen year old miniature schnauzer named Pepper.  

Kim - Dental Assistant
Kim has been with Mountain Town Dental since 1994.  She is originally from West Palm Beach, Florida.  Kim has a bubbly personality that immediately puts patients at ease.  She loves building relationships with each of the patients and it is not uncommon to hear her singing while she works.

Kim loves spending time with family and friends, music, singing, watching movies, and the beach.  Kim has three children, Corynn, Chad and Abi.  

Karen - Dental Assistant
Karen has worked in the dental field for more than 31 years.  She enjoys working with patients and helping them feel comfortable.  Karen loves the technology that is incorporated in the dental treatment at Mountain Town Dental.  She enjoys the great group of people she works with and how everyone is like a big family.  She also loves the fun office atmosphere and making patients feel at ease.

In her spare time, Karen enjoys hiking, watching her daughters play sports and traveling.  Karen and her husband, Greg, have two daughters, Lindsay and Emma.  They also have three dogs and a cat.

Crystal - Dental Assistant
Crystal joined the Mountain Town Dental team in 2009 and before then she had never worked in the dental profession.  She started out working in sterilization but it quickly became clear that she was a natural dental assistant.  Crystal enjoys seeing the transformations in a person's smile and seeing the true joy on their faces when they realize they can smile without embarrassment.  Crystal enjoys the atmosphere of Mountain Town Dental, "I enjoy being around my co-workers, we are like a family.

In her time outside of the office, Crystal enjoys spending time with her family and friends, reading, riding motorcycles, and "just enjoying life and knowing that I am blessed."  Crystal and her husband, Dub, have two children, Tommy and Darius, and German Shepard named Diego.  

Maria - Dental Assistant
Maria has been in the dental field for 26 years.  She primarily works in sterilization but also does other "behind the scenes" tasks that help makes Mountain Town Dental run efficiently and smoothly.  Maria loves making patients feel good about themselves and their dental health.  In her own words, "Our team is awesome!  We are like a family.  Dr. Jenkins and Dr. Stopper are great to work with and I think that it helps out patients feel relaxed to know we all work together and enjoy what we are doing."

Maria enjoys spending time with family and friends, camping, riding four wheelers and photography.  Maria has two sons, two stepsons, five grandchildren and a "wonderful husband."

Jo Ann - Financial Coordinator
Jo Ann has been with Mountain Town Dental since 1996.  As the financial coordinator, Jo Ann is an invaluable resource to patients and Mountain Town Dental.  She is committed to ensuring patients understand their financial and insurance options.  Jo Ann says, "I love seeing how Dr. Jenkins and Dr. Stopper can transform a patient's smile and overall oral health."

In her free time, Jo Ann enjoys spending time with her husband, Roger, and her family, especially her three grandchildren, Kayli, Eben, and Jesse.

Teresa - Schedule Coordinator
Teresa is one of the first people you will meet when you visit Mountain Town Dental.  She has been a member of the Mountain Town Dental team since 1999.  She loves making patients smile!  She helps patients feel at ease from the moment they walk in the door with her outgoing, engaging personality.  The best part of her job is "making the patients smile and feel good about themselves and making a patient comfortable enough to want to become part of our practice."

Teresa loves to sing and ride horses and is happy sitting on the beach or on her front porch.  Teresa and her husband, Roger, have two children and one grandbaby.

Carolyn - Office Manager
Carolyn has been the Office Manager with Dr. Jenkins, her husband, for over thirty years!  She is the consummate behind the scenes Office Manager and has ensured the continued growth of Mountain Town Dental while always ensuring the absolute best care is given to each and every patient.  She is knowledgeable in all aspects of Mountain Town Dental and has performed every position in the practice, except for being the dentist!

Carolyn loves spending her free time with her family, gardening, reading and knitting.  

Jason - Business Manager
Jason is a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in Afghanistan with the 82nd Airborne Division.  He worked as a police officer while attending the University of Phoenix completing his Masters of Business Administration.  Jason is a graduate of the University of Kansas and loves living in the beautiful Ashe County.  Jason is committed to ensuring that the absolute best and affordable treatment is given to every patient.

In his free time, Jason enjoys shooting, fishing, hunting, reading and spending time with his friends and family.
